Hi everyone, Hope you all had a great weekend and an amazing start to the week. I visited Edinburgh recently and thought I would share my trip with you all because ~ why not?
The purpose of this trip was to see a concert – SHOCK!! haha. The bands we went to see at Usher Hall were called ‘Don Broco and Neck-Deep. It was Don Broco’s tour but Neck deep were supporting which was an added bonus because I love them both!
We decided to travel to Edinburgh on the same day as the concert as I had uni the day before and my friend had work a few days after, meaning we couldn’t stay for two nights. We didn’t mind though as we still managed to get what we wanted done. When we arrived in Edinburgh we headed straight to the hotel to see if we could get early check in because ~ OMG was it cold! It started to rain too so we near enough sprinted to the hotel. Our hotel choice for this trip was perfect. It was opposite Usher Hall so we literally had to walk across the road to get to our gig.
We had never really stayed at this part of Edinburgh before so it was nice to have a walk around (once the rain stopped of course) before heading for food and then the concert. Whilst walking around the old town I remembered that Edinburgh are well-known for their battered mars bars so of course I went on a hunt for one. I managed to find a one at a takeaway just below the castle called ‘Castle Rock chip shop’. It doesn’t look that appealing to be honest but, trust me – it tastes delicious.
We headed up to the castle because we had some time to kill. I’m always self-conscious when walking around that area because I know from experience that the people visiting the Camera Obscure place that’s right next to the castle will more than likely be zooming in on my face. I did it to people when I was there because it’s all part of the experience. Just be sure not to pick your nose or anything because there will more than likely be about 10 people stood around a screen zoomed in on your face, watching you do it haha. I did randomly pull a few faces though just in case. The poor people who are walking past me at the time were giving me some funny looks whilst doing it – guess they have never visited the Camera Obscure place.
After having a mini photo shoot in front of the castle, we decided to head inside. We managed to look around and get pictures in less that an hour because it’s actually quite small. It looks massive on the outside but only half of it is open to the public because I think I read on a sign that people live in the other half. I mean, how great/ creepy would it be to live there, like the views would be amazing but couldn’t be dealing with how haunted it probably is.
After all of that walking around it was time to refuel. We headed out of the castle and straight down to our favourite restaurant – Nando’s. It started to rain by the time we were finished food so we decided to head back to the hotel and get warmed up. We did have a few hours to spare still before the concert so it was the perfect amount of time to relax. I decided to have bath to be honest because I physically could not stop shaking because I as that cold.
It was now time to head to the concert. I was in such a good mood because I had been looking forward to this for weeks. We got there just in time for Neck deep coming on stage. Their performance was amazing, as always and they played some sick tunes. Definitely got my buzzed to see Broco. It was now time for Don Broco to come on and it was just non stop singing, jumping and pitting until the end. Everyone was in high spirits which made it even more amazing. What made me have an even better experience is the fact that BOTH Neck Deep and Don Broco played one of my favourite songs each by them. Neck Deep played their cover of ‘Torn’, which was unreal and had the whole of Usher Hall singing it and Don Broco played ‘Further’. They did switch it up a bit and make it acoustic but OMG, it was still amazing~ LOVED IT!! I was absolutely exhausted by the end of it though so as soon as we got back into our hotel room I jumped in bed and was flat-out until 10am the next morning.
Friday ~ our second day in Edinburgh. We didn’t really have that much time to visit any where this day because our train back was at 4 and we like to be at the station 45 minutes early. We did work our way down Princes street towards the train station, whilst looking around the shops. This worked out perfectly time wise because by the time we had finished shopping and walked to the station it was time to head home.
I truly did have the best time and would 100% recommend visiting Edinburgh if you haven’t already.
I’m currently planning out my blog posts for the next couple of months. let me know in the comments below if there is anything you would like me to write about. My blog doesn’t focus on anything specific at the moment so I am open to anything.
